Welcome to the Hamilton Baseball Umpires Association!

The Hamilton Baseball Umpires Association supplies umpires to various baseball leagues within the Hamilton Wentworth region.

History goes as far back as 1906, with the HBUA supplying umpires in Hamilton. It is believed to be the oldest baseball umpires association in Canada!

The HBUA has been involved with many major events over the years. Some on the list to name a few:

  • Steel City Midget Tournament

  • Mahoney Bantam Tournament

  • West Mountain Mosquito/Peewee Tournament

  • International Children’s Games

  • 16U AAA Provincials (Hosted by the HBUA for 17 years in a row). Before that, it was the Bantam AA Provincials, followed by the Peewee AAA Provincials.

  • The Canadian Old Timers Championships has been hosted in Hamilton 3 times now.

The Hamilton Baseball Umpires Association umpire levels from 8U through Old Timer leagues. In 2024, the HBUA umpired 308 different teams throughout the season.

Over the years, we have recognized a number of HBUA members for their efforts with the HBUA and have added them to the Hamilton Baseball Umpires Association:
